About JGA Caribbean
A Risk-First Perspective on Caribbean Business.
JGA Caribbean is a specialized Caribbean-focused business operation of John Gipson Agency LLC dba JGA Insurance Solutions, bringing insurance, risk management, and governance advisory disciplines together around the risks organizations face in complex operating environments. Our approach begins with understanding the exposure—not simply identifying a product.
WHO WE ARE
Built Around the Risk. Not Around a Product.
Organizations operating, investing, owning assets, or managing exposure in Caribbean environments can face interconnected risks involving catastrophe, infrastructure, business interruption, supply chains, technology, insurance-market conditions, organizational decision-making, and resilience. JGA Caribbean was developed around a straightforward premise: these risks should not be examined in isolation. Insurance can transfer certain financial exposures. Risk management can help identify, assess, prevent, reduce, retain, monitor, or adapt to risk. Governance determines how authority, oversight, accountability, and critical decisions operate when those risks must be managed. Understanding how these disciplines interact can lead to better-informed risk decisions.
EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE APPROACH
JGA Caribbean draws on more than three decades of insurance experience spanning Caribbean and international markets, commercial insurance placement, underwriting, claims management, risk consultation, program structuring, business development, and complex-risk coordination.
That experience includes working with commercial and institutional risks across property, casualty, professional liability, management liability, marine, construction, aviation, specialty and other complex exposures. It also includes the development and coordination of insurance programs involving local Caribbean intermediaries and international insurance markets.
The experience behind JGA Caribbean was developed through decades of direct involvement in Caribbean insurance and risk—not simply through regional research. That history includes working with insurance intermediaries, commercial organizations, specialty risks, international insurers and London-market participants while navigating the different regulatory and market conditions found across Caribbean jurisdictions.
Pan-Caribbean Underwriting International Ltd. (PCU) represents an important earlier chapter in the Caribbean insurance experience behind JGA Caribbean. PCU was developed as a Caribbean-focused wholesale insurance operation designed to work through appropriately licensed local insurance intermediaries while connecting specialized risks with international insurance capacity.
Its operating philosophy emphasized more than the placement transaction. It included intermediary relationships, product development, professional education, risk management, program coordination and an understanding of the local conditions affecting Caribbean insurance risks.
Our historical experience includes prior Lloyd’s of London coverholder and program experience involving professional and specialty liability classes, together with the distribution, administration and coordination of London-market insurance through authorized channels.
This experience contributes to JGA Caribbean’s ability to evaluate complex risks, understand program structure, communicate with insurance-market participants and help determine an appropriate pathway for risks that may require specialized insurance solutions.
JGA Caribbean begins with the asset, organization, jurisdiction and exposure—not with a predetermined insurance product. We work to understand the risk, define the insurance requirement and identify an appropriate pathway for addressing the exposure.
Where insurance placement requires local authorization, the appropriate solution may involve working with a properly licensed and registered local insurance intermediary. Depending on the risk and applicable legal requirements, other situations may warrant consideration of specialty, surplus-lines, reinsurance or London-market solutions through legally appropriate channels.
Our role is to help bring the risk, insurance requirement, market pathway and relevant professional participants together in a disciplined process.

AN INTEGRATED APPROACH
Risk | Insurance | Advisory
01 — INSURANCE
Evaluate which financial exposures may be appropriate for risk transfer and structure insurance considerations around the organization’s actual operations, assets, obligations, and exposures.
02 — RISK MANAGEMENT
Identify and assess material exposures and consider appropriate responses through prevention, reduction, control, retention, transfer, monitoring, and adaptation.
03 — GOVERNANCE & ADVISORY
Examine how authority, oversight, accountability, decision-making, leadership continuity, and institutional resilience can affect an organization’s risk environment.
CARIBBEAN PERSPECTIVE
The Caribbean Is Not a Single Risk Environment.
Organizations with Caribbean exposures can encounter materially different catastrophe conditions, infrastructure dependencies, supply chains, insurance-market conditions, regulatory environments, business practices, and recovery capabilities. A strategy appropriate for one operating environment should not automatically be assumed appropriate for another. JGA Caribbean approaches regional risk by examining the operating environment surrounding the exposure—not by treating the Caribbean as one uniform market.
OUR APPROACH
Understand First. Then Determine the Response.
01 — UNDERSTAND: Establish the organization, operating environment, assets, obligations, dependencies, and objectives. 02 — IDENTIFY: Determine exposures that could materially affect operations, financial performance, resilience, or strategic objectives. 03 — ASSESS: Consider likelihood, consequence, concentration, dependencies, existing controls, and organizational capacity. 04 — RESPOND: Determine whether risks should be prevented, reduced, controlled, retained, transferred, monitored, or otherwise addressed. 05 — ALIGN: Connect insurance, operational risk response, governance, authority, and accountability where appropriate. 06 — ADAPT: Reassess as markets, operations, technology, regulation, exposures, and external conditions change.
Better risk decisions begin with a better understanding of the exposure.
LEADERSHIP & PERSPECTIVE

Experience Informs the Advice. Perspective Shapes the Strategy.
JGA Caribbean’s approach is informed by more than three decades of insurance, risk management, claims, program development, and Caribbean and international market experience. That experience provides the foundation for helping organizations examine complex exposures, evaluate risk-management priorities, and determine appropriate insurance-market pathways.
The work extends beyond insurance placement. Effective risk decisions often require collaboration among organizational leadership, risk professionals, insurance intermediaries, underwriters, advisers, and other stakeholders. JGA Caribbean brings an independent, exposure-first perspective to those discussions—helping clarify the risk before determining how it should be managed, financed, transferred, or governed.
The Risk Comes First. The Market Comes Next.

RISK IN CONTEXT
Different Industries Create Different Risk Questions.
The significance of an exposure depends partly on the assets, operations, dependencies, obligations, and consequences surrounding it. JGA Caribbean examines risk within the context in which an organization actually operates rather than assuming the same risk response applies across industries.
JGA CARIBBEAN | RISK INTELLIGENCE
Better Decisions Require Better Questions.
JGA Caribbean Risk Intelligence examines developments affecting catastrophe resilience, insurance and risk markets, governance, and emerging organizational risk through the question that matters most: what could this mean for the decisions organizations must make?
